Unfortunately, America ranks to be one of the highest
competitors on the list of obesity. It kind of makes you
wonder if Americans are getting used to the idea of
being fat, or has their perception of what fat is, changed
in the past couple of decades.
I mean, honestly, think about it. Everywhere you go, you
see that extra spare tire and man boobs on people
passing by, and the sad thing is, that we see this so
often, that it has become acceptable in our society and
we hardly think twice about it, and sometimes don’t
even notice it.
Personally, I don’t think being obese is something that
we should get used to. Obesity is the friend of diabetes,
cancer, and other life threatening illnesses, so I really
don’t understand why people take being obese so lightly.
I mean, it’s your life at stake here.
It’s only logical that you would take some time out of the
day to help preserve your own longevity, but people aren’t
logical beings, they are emotional ones. However, that’s
a whole different discussion right there.
Today, people consider the average weight to be
approximately 10 pounds higher then what people a
decade ago would have considered an average
weight for themselves. Furthermore, 33 % of women
are considered obese in America at the moment.
Obesity seems to have become the norm here in
America where everyone wants to have the option
of having something super sized. A super size
value meal is not necessary!
I was in Australia a couple of months ago,
and a cup equivalent to our super sized cup would
be outrageous. They’re large is our medium.
It seems like America is always trying to
out do somebody, even when it comes to cup sizes.
We want the biggest and the baddest of everything.
I guess that can be said for the people here as well
because if we keep at this rate, we will definitely
have the biggest batch of obese people on earth.
Then we’ll really be the biggest baddest country
in the world right?
It’s about time, people got off their couches, and
turned off American Idol, and started giving their
bodies the attention it deserves, and I don’t mean
feeding it a bunch of junk that’s only going to
make matters worth. That’s not the type of attention
I had in mind. I was thinking more along the lines
of taking yourself to the gym, eating clean foods,
and adapting to a health conscious lifestyle.
It will add years to your life. Don’t let yourself
be another American statistic, and a bad one at
that…
